Mr Magomu, who has been paying school fees for his daughters through MoMo over the past year, said the win brought relief to his family.

His daughter, Hazel, a Senior Two student, described the moment as a blessing during the emotional handover at Old Taxi Park.

In addition to the major prizes, MTN MoMo handed out instant rewards to members of the public who attended the launch, creating an atmosphere of excitement that reflected the campaign’s focus on accessibility and opportunity.

The 2026 campaign builds on what MTN MoMo describes as strong results over the past three years. In 2025 alone, the company supported more than 70 winners across the country, distributing over Shs150 million in school fees.

Thousands of students also received scholastic materials during the year.

This year’s edition introduces a new incentive for educational institutions. Schools that register to collect fees through the MoMo platform will now stand a chance to win a school van, a move MTN MoMo says is intended to support school operations and improve service delivery.

Speaking at the launch, Richard Yego said education remains central to individual and national development.

“Every child who stays in school gains skills, confidence and opportunity, and every family that educates its children contributes to a stronger and more resilient Uganda,” Yego said.

He added that the campaign goes beyond payment convenience by providing support that can change family outcomes and ease financial pressure.

Jemima Kariuki said MTN MoMo designed the campaign around the everyday challenges families face when paying school fees.

“For many parents and guardians, school fees can be stressful, from getting the right amount at the right time to balancing other household needs,” Kariuki said.

She noted that MoMo’s focus has been to make payments digital, secure and accessible from anywhere.

Parents and guardians can participate by paying school fees through the MoMo App or by dialing 16580#. Each payment automatically enters them into a draw to win school fees for a full year.

For schools and bursars, MTN MoMo says digital fee collection offers faster reconciliation, improved tracking and safer cashless transactions, in addition to the chance to win a school van.

The campaign also integrates MoMo School Fees Loans, which allow parents and guardians to pay fees on time despite temporary cash flow challenges.

Customers can apply directly on the MoMo platform, with loan payments also qualifying as entries into the campaign.

During the Old Taxi Park event, taxi drivers and operators asked MTN MoMo to consider extending MoMo Pay codes to drivers, enabling easier payments for customers.

MTN MoMo said the feedback underscored the importance of continued engagement with communities.

The 2026 Win School Fees with MoMo campaign will run throughout the school year, with multiple winners expected to be announced across all three terms.

MTN MoMo says the expanded rewards and digital tools are aimed at making education more accessible and affordable for families across Uganda.
